As per the provisions of the Code 6458 on Aliens and International Protection (LFIP), a residence permit is permission to stay in Turkey. This permit issued by the competent authorities gives the alien the right to live in our country for a certain period of time and in a certain place. The residence permit, which is important in terms of ensuring and protecting public order, is issued if the alien makes a request, applies with the required documents and meets the conditions for the type of residence permit requested.

A residence permit is a permission document issued to aliens who wish to stay in Turkey. Aliens who will stay in Turkey for longer than the period allowed by visa or visa exemption or for more than ninety days must apply for the type of residence permit they think they meet the conditions for through the e-residence system. Aliens who have completed their application must be present at the provincial/district directorate of migration management in the province where they want to live on the appointment day determined by the system. Aliens who are not present at the provincial/district directorate of migration management on the appointment day without a valid excuse are deemed not to have applied at all. The administration may request some information and documents to ascertain the validity of any excuse. As a rule, residence permit extension applications are made using the same procedure.
