IMPORTANT NOTICE ON GENERAL HEALTH INSURANCE FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS
The following important matter is announced to the public:
As per the provisions of Code 6486, amending Code 5510, Section 60, Paragraph 7; effective 29/5/2013:
All foreign students studying in our country are registered for general health insurance upon making a formal request to the provincial directorate of social security / social security centre within three months from the date of their first enrollment in the schools where they study.

For students registering for the first time after 29/5/2013, one-year general health insurance shall be entered, effective the day after their formal application, for students who apply to the provincial directorate of social security / social security centre where the schools where they study are located with a petition and a student certificate showing the date of first enrollment of the schools where they study within the three months commencing with the date of their enrollment. It is essential that students who were registered for general health insurance this way pay their general health insurance contributions themselves, calculated on the basis of the 30-day portion of the one-third of the daily wage lower limit subject to insurance contribution as per the provisions of the Code, Section 82 (this amounts to 45.36 TRY per month for the period 1/7/2014-31/12/2014).
On the other hand, general health insurance of those foreign students who are registered as per the provisions of the governing laws shall end for reasons described in the aforementioned code.
No further general health insurance registration shall be made throughout their education for those students who failed to make a formal request to our Organisation for general health insurance within the first three months commencing with their enrolment to school.
Accordingly foreign students willing to register for general health insurance are invited to make a formal application to our Organisation within the first three months commencing with the date of their enrolment in their schools.
